Around Peterhead 5016

Peterhead is one of the smallest suburbs on the Lefevre Peninsula, covering well under a square kilometre about 15 km north-west of the Adelaide city centre. It sits in the City of Port Adelaide Enfield, with Wills Street on its northern side, Hargrave Street on its southern side, the Outer Harbor railway line to the west and the Port River to the east.

The suburb was laid out in August 1875 by William Diverall, a Port Adelaide land broker, who named it after Peterhead in Scotland, his original home. The Port Adelaide Historical Society runs its museum on Fletcher Road, and the scout hall is on Wills Street. Towards the water, Victoria Road runs past the industrial riverside, with its cement works and fuel berth.

Peterhead station, on Hargrave Street, opened in 1911 when the line was extended from Glanville to Outer Harbor. Its signal cabinets beside the level crossing were painted with an ocean theme and a Jules Verne quote in 2018.

The 2021 Census counted 1,201 residents and 624 private dwellings, with an average of 1.5 motor vehicles per dwelling. With that many cars on small residential blocks, an unwanted one can quickly take up the driveway, the carport or a spot out on the verge.

A couple of quick details help Dan line the truck up:

  • Close to the level crossing on Hargrave Street? Give us the nearest cross street so we can pull up clear of the boom gates.
  • Down the Victoria Road end? Tell us whether the car is at a house or in a yard, and if there's a gate to unlock.
  • Wedged behind another car in a narrow driveway? A photo of the way out lets us plan it before we arrive.
  • No keys, flat tyres or a dead battery? The winch pulls it onto the tray anyway.
  • Selling a car and a trailer or a second vehicle? Mention both and we'll price them together.

How it works

  1. Text us the details. Send the make, model, rough condition and a few photos to 0499 291 717, or use the quote form on this page.
  2. Hear our offer. Prices run from $200 to $2,000, depending on the vehicle.
  3. Book a time. Any weekday between 8am and 4pm.
  4. Hand over the keys. Dan arrives with the tilt tray, pays you, and winches the car aboard.

Payment and the MR96

You pick how the money arrives: cash in hand or an instant PayID bank transfer. Payment happens before the car leaves your street, and because the tow is free, nothing comes off the price for collection.

Dan also brings the MR96 notice of disposal, the form that tells the registrar the car has changed hands. He'll go through it with you on the spot so the paperwork is finished when the tray pulls away.

Peterhead FAQs

Is Peterhead too small or too close for a free pickup?

No. It's a short drive from our Semaphore base, and every address in 5016 gets the same free tilt-tray collection.

My car is a project I never finished. Will you still buy it?

Yes. Half-pulled-apart cars, missing panels and engines that won't turn over are all fine. Send photos showing what's there and what's missing, and we'll price it on that.

Can you collect if I'm not living at the property?

Usually, yes. If you're selling for a family member, tell us when you book so we can arrange who meets Dan and signs the MR96.

How fast can I get a price?

Text photos to 0499 291 717 or fill in the online quote form, and we'll reply with a figure between $200 and $2,000.

When do you collect?

Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm. Text ahead with a day that suits you and we'll confirm a time.
