Greenacres is an inner north-eastern suburb in the City of Port Adelaide Enfield, and its edges are easy to picture. Hampstead Road runs down the western side, Muller Road along the south, Fosters Road on the east and Redward Avenue across the top. The Hampstead Road and Muller Road intersection at the south-west corner gets busy in peak hour.
The name goes back to 1919, when landowner Christoph Samuel Mueller chose it as a simple descriptive name. On that south-west corner stands Hampstead Barracks, a small Army base on less than 24 acres and home to the Adelaide Universities Regiment, an Army Reserve officer training unit. Towards the eastern end, near Muller Road, is the Greenacres Shopping Centre. Inside those four roads, the streets are mostly residential, with a mix of houses and townhouses.
The 2021 Census counted 3,356 residents and 1,303 private dwellings, with an average of 1.8 motor vehicles per dwelling, which is close to two cars for every home.
